Uber and Taxis
UberUber is very active in London, and we use it a lot. You don’t have to do anything different – just use the app as you normally would. If you want to take an Uber from Heathrow or Gatwick, you’ll have to go a designated waiting spot to be picked up, which the app will specify. If you’re flying into Heathrow on Delta (the most common scenario from Atlanta), the pick up point is on level 3 of the parking garage. I’ve never taken Uber from Gatwick because I haven’t flown into that airport for years, but I understand the pickup points are also in the parking garages.
TaxisOften called Black Cabs. This is your basic London taxi service, and the cars are everywhere. Drivers of “black cabs” have to pass an extensive knowledge test of London so they know how to get pretty much anywhere…extremely valuable back in the day but less important now. I prefer Uber simply because of convenience, but all the cabs take credit cards and are easy to use as well.
